I teach Philosophy at the University of Glasgow.

 

My main research interests are in the philosophy of mind and science, particularly the metaphysics of mind: the problem of mental causation, the mind-body problem, and the prospects for materialist accounts of mental or other special science phenomena. I take an interest in reductive versus non-reductive projects in science more generally, the development of the philosophy of mind in the twentieth century, and the philosophy of art.

 

I am a trustee of Transmission.
